Provably fair verification

Verify Every Rumble

Coinflip and Jackpot publish public fairness history. Blackjack and Mines are account-based games, so their fairness proofs are only available to the logged-in player who played that round.

How Coinflip Fairness Works

  1. Before a game starts, TF2 Rumble stores a secret server seed and publicly shows the SHA-256 server seed hash.
  2. The creator and joiner seeds, Steam IDs, game ID, and nonce are mixed into an HMAC-SHA256 message.
  3. The first valid ticket from that hash becomes the roll. Each player receives tickets based on wager value.
  4. After the flip, the server seed is revealed so the same ticket and winner can be recalculated.

How Jackpot Tickets Work

  1. Each entry receives a ticket range proportional to its item value.
  2. The round commits with a server seed hash while the pot is still active.
  3. When the round resolves, server seed + client seed + nonce creates the roll hash.
  4. The roll lands inside one participant ticket range, proving the winning entry.
